Gun seized after Ajax man, under house arrest, dining in Oshawa: Cops

An Ajax man is facing multiple charges including gun offences after cops say he was caught last week inside an Oshawa restaurant while under house arrest.

On Nov. 28 at about 1:15 p.m., Durham Regional Police say they were made aware of the man in the area of Ritson Rd. N. and Adelaide Ave. E.

An off-duty officer, who was familiar with the accused, noticed the man and followed him to the King St. E. and Albert St. area, where he entered a restaurant.

The man was arrested without incident inside the establishment, police said.

A firearm and ammunition allegedly were found concealed under a vending machine near his property.

Kenneth Tshilombo, 29, was charged with possessing a loaded restricted/prohibited firearm, possessing a restricted/prohibited firearm with no licence, possessing a weapon dangerous to public peace, occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm, two counts of possession contrary to an order, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Cops say the accused is also wanted in Ottawa.

In August 2018, Ottawa Police issued an arrest warrant for Tshilombo after a handgun was found by officers.
