Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Huron County say one person is dead after a tractor-trailer collided head on with a minivan on the Bluewater Highway north of London, Ont., on Wednesday morning.

OPP and emergency crews were called to Highway 21 in the area of Sararas Road north of Grand Bend just before 7 a.m. ET. The vehicles ended up in a field east of the highway.

“Unfortunately one of the drivers, the driver of the minivan, a 58-year-old Bluewater resident, has died as a result of the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene,” said Constable Craig Soldan. “The driver of the semi truck was uninjured.”

The highway will be closed between Dashwood Road and Zurich-Hensall Road for several hours, said Soldan.

The OPP’s traffic reconstruction team is on the scene.
