Sussex Police said it was made aware of a number of social media posts circulating about a fraud involving both small and large businesses in areas of Eastbourne and Rother.
The incidents involved a man trying to return items which allegedly had glass found in them.

Police also received reports from a number of businesses which reported the same incident.
After conducting enquiries, Sussex Police identified and arrested a 60-year-old man on Sunday on suspicion of fraud.
He remains in custody at this time.
